My entry that didn't make it in the "Show Us What's Happening" contest because they ended it a week early. It's not quite done, but close.
The category I would have submitted to was Loss of Speech.
My concept: When one loses their speech, it is not a battle with others, but a battle with oneself- one's own mind, a fight against your own intelligence, a war with the thoughts inside your head. In the end, it is your thoughts and the very basis of them that will rip your soul apart and drive you to insanity, because you cannot get them out; you are trapped by your own lack of communication, your inability to get thoughts and ideas out. These are the true effects of loss of speech- not just that you will be unable to speak, but also to think, live, love, and feel. The crowdedness of your own mind, the lonely way in which you are trapped- in your own thoughts- will destroy you.
